The Department of English came into existence in 1984, the very year our college was founded. The college primarily serves students from rural and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, and this reality shapes the department’s vision, its responsibilities, and its approach to teaching.
Recognizing the aspirations and challenges of our learners, the department works with unwavering commitment to foster their holistic development. Our teaching practices, activities, and initiatives are therefore designed to create confident, articulate, and thoughtful individuals prepared to explore diverse academic and career opportunities.
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” — Carl Jung
In a world often dominated by superficial appearances, outer glamour can mask deeper inadequacies. True progress arises from sincere introspection—recognizing one’s strengths and weaknesses, understanding one’s potential, and taking meaningful steps toward self- improvement. This philosophy resonates strongly with the Department of English.
We are fully aware of our constraints, whether infrastructural or socio-economic, and we acknowledge the unique challenges our students face. Yet, these realities only strengthen our resolve. The department is dedicated to ensuring that every learner receives a robust foundation in language, communication, and critical thinking skills—the essential tools for academic success, employability, and personal transformation.
With determination, empathy, and a commitment to quality, the Department of English continues to strive toward nurturing students who can compete globally while staying connected to their roots.
